  1. Step 1: Make Ginger Extract

    • Peel the ginger using a spoon or knife and finely grate it using a grater.
    • Place the grated ginger in a small bowl or cup.
    • Add ½ cup of hot water to the ginger and let it steep for 5-7 minutes.
    • Strain the mixture using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, pressing the ginger to extract all the juice. Set aside this ginger extract.
  2. Step 2: Prepare the Lemon Base

    • Squeeze the lemons to get ½ cup of fresh juice. Make sure to remove any seeds.
    • In a large jug, combine the lemon juice and sugar (or honey). Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Step 3: Combine and Dilute

    • Add the ginger extract to the lemon mixture and mix well.
    • Pour in the remaining 3½ cups of cold water. Stir to combine.
  4. Step 4: Chill and Garnish

    • Fill glasses with ice cubes.
    • Pour the ginger lemonade into the glasses.
    • Garnish with mint leaves and a slice of lemon for an extra refreshing touch.
  5. Step 5: Serve

Serve immediately, chilled. Stir before drinking to ensure the flavors are evenly distributed.
